SUS 20 Years: The Health of Brazil - Ministério da Saúde - Centro Cultural Ministério da Saúde
Presentation
The 20 years commemoration of the Unified Health System (SUS) is presented as an invitation to know the Health Policy of Brazil, instituted with the federative republic of Brazil, on October 5, 1988.
To mark the date, the Ministry of Health, among other initiatives produced the SUS 20 Years Exhibition: The Health of Brazil. The intention is to present, as a didactic, ludic and creative approach, the most essential aspects of health in Brazil, and, on doing so, stimulate the reflection on the role of each one and consequently on the importance of the social participation for the consolidation of SUS in Brazil.
Health in Brazil has historical developments such as the decentralization, municipalization of actions and services, the improvement and expansion of the attention to health, the promotion of health and sanitary surveillance, and the social control with the performance of health counsels. This exhibition has the purpose of making SUS popular as one of the biggest public health systems in the world, which seeks to guarantee the access to health and promote the best quality of life.
SUS is an achievement of the Brazilian society and was created with a firm purpose of promoting the social justice and overcoming the inequalities in the health care of the population, making the health care mandatory and free to all individuals. It covers the simple ambulatory service to organ transplants and is the only one that guarantees full, universal and equal access.
To make the path of SUS public strengthens its collective development and stimulates the mobilization of the society to overcome the challenges of the health sector and expansion of social rights.
